Homework is Less Frustrating!
So when I noted that my other daughter, Allison seemed to be having similar issues with reading in the first grade, I didn’t wait and had her tested by Dr. Fortenbacher. Allison had some issues with her visual tracking and we started working with Alyson as our therapist at the end of June. Allison now enjoys reading and writing more than she ever has before. She finds homework less frustrating. Her second grade teacher is impressed with how much Allison likes to read and her reading comprehension scores are high. She is doing very well. Since two of my children have had vision issues that were not detected by the standard vision tests given in school OR by our local optometrist, I feel that some changes need to be made in how teachers and optometrists look at vision and reading issues. A child’s whole future is at stake if these problems are not detected and addressed early enough. I plan to have my other children tested when they get to the first grade level, whether they appear to be having problems or not.
